Rules for accessing and using Cape Town Basketball Association digital services, including role-based operations, records, payments, and communications.
These terms mirror how the CTBA platform actually works—accounts, roles, competitions, money, transfers, and public pages—so members know the rules that sit alongside competition policies.
By accessing or using CTBA digital services (the website, authenticated dashboards, APIs, and related tools), you agree to these Terms of Use and to competition rules, club policies, codes of conduct, and governance decisions that CTBA or your club publish from time to time. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Certain features require an account and an assigned role; you may not bypass access controls.
CTBA may update these terms; the “Last updated” date shows the revision. Material changes will be communicated by reasonable means where practical.
The platform provides software for running Cape Town Basketball Association operations: member accounts and profile setup; association, club, and team administration; competitions and team registrations; fixtures, venues, and calendars; results and standings; inter-club transfers with approval chains; finance (including invoices, payments, and proof-of-payment review); documents; announcements and newsletter tools; notifications; reporting; audit logs; and public information pages. Specific modules available to you depend on your role and CTBA configuration.
You must provide accurate registration information and keep credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account unless you have notified CTBA of a compromise and we have disabled access. Do not share passwords, impersonate others, or create accounts except through approved onboarding flows.
You must be legally able to enter binding obligations in your context (for example a guardian acting for a minor where required).
You must promptly report unauthorised access, credential theft, or suspicious activity.
You may only use features and data permitted for your assigned role and scope (association, club, team, or personal). You must not attempt to view, export, or alter records outside that scope, including by manipulating URLs, tokens, or headers. Information you submit—rosters, results, payments, documents, transfer requests—must be truthful, complete where required, and submitted through official workflows.
Fabricated payment proofs, forged documents, or false roster information may lead to suspension and disciplinary action.
5. Competitions, fixtures, results, and official records
Schedules, scores, standings, and published outcomes are official league communications when CTBA or authorised roles publish them. You must not tamper with match records, manipulate standings outside authorised processes, or misrepresent CTBA content on external sites in a way that implies endorsement where none exists.
Inter-club transfers must follow CTBA windows, approvals, fees, and safeguarding rules implemented in software. You must not circumvent transfer locks, roster eligibility rules, or clearance requirements. Players under eighteen must meet parent or guardian acknowledgement requirements where the platform enforces them.
Where the platform supports billing, you agree to pay assessed fees according to published rules and to upload authentic proof of payment when required. Treasurers and authorised finance roles may approve or reject submissions; their decisions may affect eligibility for registration or competition participation.
You must use the platform lawfully and professionally. Harassment, hate speech, illegal content, malware, scraping that degrades service, denial-of-service attempts, or interference with other users’ access is prohibited. Uploaded files must not violate third-party rights or contain unlawful material.
CTBA may remove content, suspend access, or refer matters to clubs or authorities where appropriate.
CTBA names, logos, layouts, and software are protected. You receive a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the platform for CTBA-related purposes in line with these terms. You retain rights in content you upload; you grant CTBA a licence to host, process, display (where publication is intended), and back up that content solely to operate and improve the services, enforce rules, and meet legal duties.
The platform is provided on an “as available” basis. CTBA may modify features, perform maintenance, or suspend access for security or operational reasons. We strive for reliability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Public pages may cache or delay updates; always refer to authoritative dashboard records for time-sensitive decisions where applicable.
CTBA or your club may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, risk to members, or abuse of the system. Provisions that reasonably should survive (for example payment obligations, liability limits where permitted, and intellectual property) continue after access ends.
12. Limitation of liability and governing policies
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CTBA and its volunteers, staff, and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform, or for loss of data due to factors outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Basketball and physical activity carry inherent risk; participation is subject to club and association waivers and policies. For questions, use the Contact page. These terms work together with the Privacy Policy, Security overview, and FAQ.
Disputes about on-court discipline, eligibility, or competition outcomes are handled under CTBA and club procedures—not by replacing them with informal platform messages alone.
